Patient education is something which I pride myself on offering my patients, and have been doing it a long time. If you don't understand the reason why you are prescribed physical therapy by your physician, why go? If you don't understand why you received a few exercises for your ailment, why do them? Your participation in physical therapy is a two way street, a relationship between you and your physical therapist. Physical therapy is not the act of going for treatment and having someone do all the work for you. While yes, there may be times in recovery more of this occurs, but this is not the expected or norm. In pages to follow, I hope to help educate individuals going through challenges and provide some insight into the world of hips.
In this section of education, you will learn about the anatomy, how the hip works and relates to other joints, and diagnoses of hip pathology.
In the next section of education, you will learn more about the surgical procedures as a patient, how to prepare for surgery and what to expect from the procedures. While the surgical techniques will vary between physicians, the education is regarding the generalities associated with the procedures.
